Meet Michele

Owner of Elevate & Play Yoga

My name is Michele Anderson, and I’m so glad you’re here! I am the proud owner of Elevate & Play Yoga (Formally Inner Light Children’s Yoga). For as long as I can remember, health and wellness have been a major focus in my life.

For over 26 years, I worked as a public school special education teacher, and during that time, I noticed the increasing need for children to learn self-regulation and focusing strategies. In addition, because they spend more time sitting indoors— in classrooms, on the couch watching TV, or using an electronic device— children often lack core stability and overall physical stamina. What’s more is, since many of their preferred activities involve being behind a screen, children exhibit more social challenges.

After seeing this change in my students, I had an overwhelming desire to find a way to reach children and help them become calmer, more connected, and more physically healthy.

In 2017, I completed my 200-hour family yoga certification through the Radiant Child Yoga program. From there, I went on to earn my certification in Aerial Yoga from Good Karma Yoga Studio.

Since then, I have continued to deepen my study and understanding of yoga. I received further training from Karma Kids Yoga, including Yoga for Children, and Yoga for Babies and Toddlers. In addition, I continued my training in Aerial Yoga through Mindful Child Aerial Yoga and Wellness. I also received my second 200-hour yoga teaching certification through the LYT Method yoga teacher training program. Wanting to become more specialized, I went on to complete specialty training in Yoga for Athletes through TUNE Yoga, as well as through the LYT Method yoga program. These diverse courses of study allow me to offer yoga classes for every member of the family, from babies to senior citizens!

Yoga is the key to unlocking our true potential!

Additionally, my background as a certified K-12 special education teacher allows me to provide a deeply enriching experience for children, including those with special needs.

Yoga helps kids calm down and focus, leading to better self-regulation and improved school stamina. Our yoga classes are developmentally appropriate and are targeted at addressing specific needs— all while being fun.

And a new focus… yoga for high school and college athletes. I now offer both in-studio yoga coaching as well as on-site visits to your location.

Interested in having me teach yoga at your school or facility? Contact me! I travel to schools/preschools, and daycares. I also offer professional development for staff. Birthday party yoga and private family classes are also available.

We hope to see you at Elevate & Play Yoga studio, where strength meets play!
